PROPOSITION ONE

Proposition One calls for the creation of a Citizen Budget Review Board in the City of Orlando. The proposition will be voted on in the November 2006 elections.

Proposition One will ask voters to adopt an ordinance which creates a Citizen Budget Review Board. The Citizen Budget Review Board will be comprised of nine members that will review City budgets before they are approved. The nine members will be appointed by the Chairman of the Review Board and confirmed by a majority of the board.

The CBRB will have access to all City documents and be able to interview City staff and City suppliers and vendors. The CBRB will have the power to conduct public hearings and will make recommendations to City Council.

The goal of the CBRB is to ensure that taxpayer money is used efficiently and wisely asn to assist the City Council in making budget choices.
